Virginia Family Wellness has signed on with Curative, adding another payment option for people seeking behavioral-health care. If you have eligible Curative coverage, this may offer another way to use your benefits at our practice.

Before scheduling, please confirm your eligibility, the services your plan covers, and the payment method that applies to your visit. This announcement does not mean every Curative plan or every service is covered.

What is Curative?

Curative provides employer-sponsored health insurance. Members receive coverage through a participating employer, subject to their plan's enrollment and benefit rules. It is a health plan, not a payment plan that anyone can sign up for through Virginia Family Wellness.

Curative also offers a Cash Card that eligible members can use to pay for approved, covered services with providers identified as "Cash Card only" in Curative's Provider Search. For providers listed as in-network, Curative directs members to use their Member ID card instead. These are different payment methods, so it is important to check which applies before your appointment.

Why this matters for access to care

Understanding how to pay for care is part of deciding where to begin. Adding Curative gives eligible members another option to discuss with our team when considering services at Virginia Family Wellness.

Our existing insurance and self-pay options remain available. You can review our payment and insurance information or contact us with a question. The appropriate level of care still depends on your needs, a clinical assessment when required, and appointment availability. A payment option does not guarantee admission, a particular clinician, or an appointment date.

How to check eligibility and use your benefits

  1. Confirm your enrollment. Check your current Curative membership and plan details. If you are unsure whether your employer offers Curative or whether you are enrolled, ask your benefits administrator or Curative Member Services. Our practice cannot enroll you in a Curative health plan.
  2. Check the provider and service. Use Curative's Provider Search and ask Curative to confirm coverage for Virginia Family Wellness, your clinician, and the specific service you are considering. Coverage for one type of appointment does not establish coverage for every therapy service or outpatient program. Ask whether prior authorization or other approval is needed.
  3. Confirm the right payment method. Ask Curative whether your visit uses the Member ID card or Cash Card, and verify any card requirements before the appointment. Do not assume the Cash Card can be used with any provider or alongside another insurer.
  4. Contact our team before care begins. Call 804-476-2668 or contact Virginia Family Wellness. Let us know you have Curative coverage and ask how to arrange the appropriate payment method for the service you need. Curative Member Services can answer plan-specific questions using the contact details on your membership materials.

Important coverage information

Curative's published Cash Card rules require members to be at least 18 years old and to have Curative as their primary insurance. The Cash Card does not work with other insurance, and payments are limited to eligible, covered services. Curative states that members must complete a Baseline Visit within the first 120 days of their plan start date to maintain its $0 out-of-pocket benefits. Additional terms are available in the Curative member portal.

Coverage, provider participation, payment methods, and acceptance of new patients can change. Transactions may be reviewed for coverage and clinical requirements, and prior authorization may be needed. Ask Curative to confirm the current rules and any amount you may owe for your particular visit.

This article is general information, not a guarantee of eligibility, network status, coverage, payment, or zero out-of-pocket costs. Your plan documents and Curative's coverage determination govern your benefits. Virginia Family Wellness will help you understand the practice's payment process; Curative should confirm your insurance benefits.
