Clinical Supervisor

Courtney Holmes

Ph.D., LPC, LMFT, CRC, NCC, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional

My name is Courtney. I collaborate with Virginia Family Wellness as a clinical supervisor for counseling residents. I also work as an associate professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and teach rehabilitation and mental health counseling to students preparing for counseling careers. Teaching and supervising are my favorite parts of my work, and supporting counselors' professional and personal development brings me great joy.

Additionally, I lead supervision training sessions for licensed counselors to help them become approved supervisors through the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am passionate about providing high-quality, effective supervision to counseling students and residents, as supervision is critical in delivering effective mental health care practices and preventing provider burnout.

My clinical areas of expertise include trauma, family systems work, parenting, women's issues, and more. My clinical and supervision work is largely informed by humanistic, feminist, experiential, developmental, and psychodynamic/attachment theory.
